COVID Information
Updated 8/22/22

BackStory Theatre follows the guidance of Broomfield Public Health and Environment and the CDC.

As of August, 2022, the following policy will be in place with the understanding that requirements may change at any time. BackStory commits to clear, prompt communication around any changes affecting the health and safety of our participants and their families. We do not follow the policies of any particular school district as our community is served by multiple school districts.

Masking Guidelines:

BackStory Theatre is following federal, state and/or local orders on masking.

As of August 23, 2022:

Masks are still recommended in certain circumstances and for some individuals (those who are unvaccinated, immunocompromised, and/or live with someone with those conditions), and we strongly encourage anyone who meets those requirements to continue to mask in our programs. Anyone who would like to continue to wear a mask for any reason will be supported by our staff.

BackStory believes community is enriched by theater and we deeply appreciate the support our participants continue to show for the varying needs of everyone in our programs.

As always, if a student has any signs or symptoms of illness; we ask that they attend rehearsals remotely and communicate with their teachers. If anyone in a participant’s household is experiencing symptoms of illness, the participant should mask during classes (see additional guidelines below).

This policy may change at any point as circumstances require.

Current Broomfield Public Health Guidelines:

City and County-Wide; all businesses and community members are asked to:

• Stay up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines.

• Get tested if you have symptoms and follow quarantine and isolation guidance.

BackStory's Studio and performance policies are:

  • Occupancy of the building is restricted to registered participants, staff, and approved volunteers. Parents/guardians may hug and go outside the doors.

  • If you are not feeling well, please, please do not attend our programs. Whenever possible, virtual attendance options will be made available for absent participation. THEATER IS A TEAM ACTIVITY; STAYING HOME WHEN YOU’RE SICK IS SUPPORTING YOUR TEAM!

    • If you or anyone in your household are experiencing symptoms of illness (headache, sinus congestion or runny nose, fever, sore throat, cough, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, etc.) please refrain from attending in person until all household members have been symptom free for at least 24 hours.

    • If anyone in a participant’s HOUSEHOLD has had a known or suspected exposure to COVID, the participant may continue to participate, while wearing a mask at all times, as long as they are symptom free and closely monitor their symptoms. Please tell us if this is happening.

  • If a PARTICIPANT has a known or suspected exposure to COVID, they may attend programming as long as they remain symptom free AND must get tested at least 5 days after being exposed. They should wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days from the date of their last close contact with someone with COVID-19 (the date of last close contact is considered day 0).  If they test positive or develop COVID-19 symptoms, isolate from other people and follow the steps below for Positive COVID test.

  • If a PARTICIPANT tests positive for COVID, they must report that test to BackStory’s Executive Director for exposure notification immediately. The participant may not attend any programming until all three of the following criteria are met:

    • 5 days from the date symptoms first appeared; AND

    • fever-free (unmedicated) for 24 hours; AND

    • All other symptoms are improving.

Upon returning to programming in person, the participant should wear a

well-fitting mask around others for 10 days from the date of their positive test

and/or onset of symptoms.

  • Participants will be notified via email as soon as possible if they’ve been exposed through a BackStory program. Exposure is defined as being within 6 feet for more than 15 cumulative minutes within a 24 hour period.

  • BackStory uses a UV-C and HEPA air filter in the primary studio and is committed to regular cleaning of high touch surfaces, restrooms, and shared spaces with COVID appropriate cleaning supplies.

  • Please refrain from eating inside the studio; where appropriate, snack breaks may be taken outdoors. All participants are welcome to bring a closed, reusable water bottle labeled with their name to activities. No other beverages are allowed in the studio.

  • If a participant misses more than two weeks of programming due to COVID, class credits will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

  • If a significant number of program participants are quarantining, the program may be moved to an online platform to allow equal participation.

  • Public performances will be approached using appropriate guidance for “Public Spaces” as defined by Broomfield Public Health and Environment on an ongoing basis.
